The Team
The Wilson Funeral home staff are all passionate about the work that they do with bereaved families. They would be happy to provide information about the services that The Wilson Funeral Home can offer to you. This will ensure that the funeral that you arrange is truly representative of the person’s life that you are honouring and is an appropriate and personal tribute to them.
They are actively involved in community education and would be happy to speak with any groups about their work. They also offer grief education to rest home staff, hospital staff or any other care providers.
Dave Medland is the Manager of The Wilson Funeral Home.
Dave is passionate about families, is thrilled to have been married to Petrea for 17 years, and delighted to be a Dad to three wonderful daughters.
Dave grew up in Te Araroa, a small Maori community on the East Coast of the North Island, which was a great start to life. He served with The Salvation Army for 18 years as a Minister/Pastor to several congregations throughout New Zealand, based in Miramar for the last 10 ½ years. His experiences were many and varied. During this time he has had the privilege of partnering with people from all walks of life to celebrate significant moments, as well as walk with them through difficult journeys.
It is with great excitement that he offers his experience, life skills and appreciation for life, in caring for people in our community.

Frank Milne - Funeral Director
Frank is kind, patient and compassionate; he finds it invigorating to be able to use his skills and experience to support and help people from all different walks of life.
Frank has been married to Sandra for 22 years and is the proud father of two sons. Frank and Sandra find spending time with their grandson a good challenge to keeping themselves young.
Frank hails from the 'mainland', namely Timaru, where he spent the first 20 years of his life. Following in his father's footsteps, he was first employed as a freezing worker. Frank then served as a Minister with The Salvation Army for 13 years before becoming a Mental Health Support Worker with Pathways. Frank then took up a new role as an Industrial Chaplain with ITIM. The role he had prior to joining The Wilson Funeral Home was that of an Assistant Manager of The Salvation Army Family Store in Miramar.
Throughout his life and working career Frank has learned many practical and helpful skills which aid in his ability to be of great support and encouragement to people who are going through times of crisis and change.
As well as Dave and Frank there are ten other staff members who are available to you 24 hours a day.
